About Us
Bobbin Head Anglican Church (BHAC) was "planted" in March 2005 by St James Anglican Church Turramurra. From 2005 to the end of 2007 it was also financially supported by St Swithun's Anglican Church, Pymble, and the Northern Regional Council of the Sydney Diocese.
The congregation, which now numbers around 140 adults and children, meets in the assembly hall of Turramurra North Public School at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. Almost half of our congregation is under fourteen years old. We have a great creche and Sunday School which children love to attend.
In February 2008 two new congregations were begun under the banner of Bobbin Head Anglican Church. These two congregations, which are tailored for those who prefer a more traditional type of service, are held in the chapel at Lady Davidson Private Hospital, North Turramurra.
There are two members of staff at BHAC. Steve Calder is our ordained minister. He is married to Sandra and has five sons. Before coming to North Turramurra, Steve worked in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland. Steve was ordained in Sydney in 1997, and for four years was the Assistant Minister at St Alban's Anglican Church, Lindfield.
Belinda Burn is our Ministry Worker. Belinda was a founding member of BHAC and was commissioned to full-time ministry in September 2008. Belinda is married to John and has five children. Belinda is BHAC's Music Director and is involved in discipling, planning and administration.
Our aim is to be a community in North Turramurra where people are welcomed and nurtured and encouraged. Our congregation comprises people who have been Christians for a long time, new believers, and people still investigating the claims of Jesus Christ.
As a Bible-believing church, we trust that God speaks to us today as we read, and are taught from, his Word. We believe that Jesus Christ is the promised Saviour who died to rescue sinners like us from God's rightful judgement. We believe that Jesus rose again and now, as Lord, calls all people to turn and follow him.
We invite you to join us in the joyous, but challenging, Christian life. We invite you to join us at Bobbin Head Anglican Church.
